WHAT WE SAY:
As one of the biggest players in encapsulation, the technology Catalent is pioneering may give rise to other cross-market opportunities.
The company is open to collaboration and innovation – just imagine if single doses of shampoos, body washes and lotions were delivered in a material that needed no waste infrastructure at all.
Formed in 2007 through the acquisition of Cardinal Health by Blackstone Group, Catalent claims to be the number one global partner for pharmaceuticals, biologics and consumer health innovations.
Currently operating from 17 sites across Asia, Europe and the Americas, Catalent provides product development, launch and full lifecycle supply around the world.
The company employs over 19,000 people, with more than 2,500 scientists and technicians. It has over 1,000 partner programmes and launches 150 new products a year.
One sector of Catalent’s business is Consumer Health, covering global, over-the-counter, nutritional supplement and beauty industries. Catalent claims it is a global leader in softgel technology with over 85 years in the industry. It supplies over 60 billion softgels annually.
Commercially available Catalent Consumer Health products include: OptiGel Mini Softgel Capsules, EasyBurst Chewable Softgels, Vegicaps Capsules and CosmoPod Unit-Dose Capsules. The latter is ideal for single-dose, topical beauty solutions, while the Vegicaps tap into the growing inner beauty movement.
The CosmoPod capsule range is derived from carrageenan, an all-natural, plant-based Seaweed extract.
