Looking at the role of materials in mitigating carbon emissions and enabling a circular economy – especially viable alternatives that are reducing our reliance on ‘incumbents’ such as petrochemical, virgin forest and animal-based materials – it has become clear that there is no silver bullet solution. Rather, a multi-faceted strategy is likely to have greater impact, such as, a mix of alternative materials, or combinations of materials that can match functionality, scalability and cost, as well as end-of-life technologies.
With a particular focus on commercialising technologies for more sustainable materials, this year’s summit will showcase the solutions that are ready now, as well as exciting developments for the future, with plenty of opportunities for networking throughout the event to accelerate greater collaboration.
